INSTALLATION NOTES
Use the ADD/REMOVE programs option on 32-bit platforms to install or uninstall the application. An Uninstall icon will not appear in the respective program group.
DO NOT install the PDR to root of a hard drive as the PDR will not install properly.
The PDR workstation setup will install Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 to every workstation. If IE4 or higher is installed on the machine already, PDR will skip this part of the install and proceed with the setup. If IE4 is already installed, you may be prompted to upgrade to Service PacK 2. This is provided for your convenience, the PDR will install without the upgrade.
It is suggested that the PDR DATA files be installed to the hard drive for optimum performance.
As a standard 32-bit Windows practice, the program will be placed in C:\PROGRAM FILES\MEDEC\WINPDR32 directory by default. The user can choose to place the files in a different directory. However, it is suggested that you use the default directory on the installation of the PDR.
OTHER NOTES
After installing IE, you will be asked if you want to reboot your PC. Accept the default to reboot. After the reboot is complete run Setup from the CD to finish installation of PDR.
The recommended display settings are a resolution of 800 X 600 and a color depth of 256 or greater.
On occasion, after IE has been installed, the IE channel bar is present and the "Take a Tour" window is launched.
Use the BACK button instead of the ESC key in PDR monographs and Stedman's. On a few screens the ESC key will not return to the last page.
KNOWN PROBLEMS

PROBLEM
After installing the 2000 PDR, when launching the application it can't find the CD-ROM even though it is inserted in the drive.

SOLUTION
You are probably launching PDR from a custom shortcut created on the desktop. Custom shortcuts are not overwritten on installation. You will need to direct the shortcut to launch the new PDR. Run a search for "WINPDR32.EXE" and direct the shortcut accordingly.

PROBLEM
"OLEAUT32.DLL is out of date"

SOLUTION
First try
rebooting your computer, if that does not work, you will need to replace the file from the cd to your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.

Win 95/98
1. Reboot computer
2. Click Start >Programs>MS-DOS PROMPT
3. Type the following:
copy d:\win\sys\oleaut32.dll %temp%

4. Restart your computer in MS-DOS mode.

5. Type the following:
copy %temp%\oleaut32.dll %windir%\system

NOTE: Instructions assume "D:" is your CD-ROM Drive.

If you are running a locked version of Windows that does not allow you to install files to the SYSTEM/SYSTEM32 directory, you will need someone with administrative rights to install the application to your machine.

WINDOWS NT: If you are installing the application to a Windows NT machine as Admin you must also log back in as Admin when the machine reboots to properly register the files.
